It could be, that the next to fall COULD be a nominee, and not in office at the present time.

Heck, why would she resign when she has a nice cushy job, like that?

Condi is not under investigation and presently not much of a polarizing figure. She may leave but it won't be under the cloud of controversy that Gonzalez had.
As far as Cheney leaving and McCain taking over, it won't happen. I said the same thing 2 years, but things have changed. McCain is no longer the viable GOP candidate and this move would be way to transparent now; it needed to be done last year to seem plausible.

Condi is the best "yes" man in the bush admin. Though it is her job to support the admin and she is one of America's brightest women.... don't let that sexy gap in her teeth through you off.

It's not uncommon for people to resign during a lame duck President's last years in office. If you'll remember correctly, Bill Clinton had people resign too during his final years as President.
