He could stay in it all day long so I was wondering how much time he should spend in it at one sitting, and how much total time during the day?

We would put my daugther in the jumperoo and she would let us know when she was done. Its good to get them up off their backs to play for a while! We would usually put my daugther in her jumperoo in the evening and she would play in there for about 15-20 mintutes depending on her mood. She loves hers!

My son also loves his jumperoo. He's 5 months now. He'll probably stays in it no more than 30 min's at a time.. He loves rolling around on the floor & tummy time also, so there are other activities other than jumperoo.. But i would say as long as the seat holds him well and he's not supporting too much weight on his legs, leave him be =]

In the what to expect book i remember it saying only to stay in for 30 min, but I think I left my sons in for like an hour. Dont leave them in too long, floor time is most important so he can learn the crawling skills!

Babies need activity, so if he's happy in there let him hang out.

However, they also need time on the floor to work other muscles and practice things like rolling and sitting.

Its not about whats right and whats wrong, its about common sense. If he's happy and being active let him play in it, especially if it keeps him busy while youre getting work done. Dont let him get over tired or work his little body too much, and be sure he spends a few hours each day on the floor.

20 min. is recommended unless you want him to look like he just stepped off a horse.

he'll let you know when he is done... it wont hurt him... and if it does hurt him, he'll let you know. consider yourself lucky that he can stay in one spot for a long period of time
