Would be nice to see someone other than Federer or Nadal win this year. Leyton Hewitt?

For the men, I think it's Roger Federer all the way. Nadal will barely make it into the second week. The only one who might give Federer a big push is Novak Djokovic in the final. But, it'll be all Federer.
The women's side is really loaded in the top half of the draw. Henin, Venus, Serena, Jankovic and Ivanovic are all in the top half. Sharapova is the only big gun in the bottom half and if she sails through to the final, she's gonna be the freshest. But, it's still hard to bet against Venus. If Serena wasn't hurt, I'd say her. If Venus makes it through to the final, and Sharapova is her opponent, Venus will maul her.

I would like it to be Nadal ,if not then Roddick.I have nothing against Federer but ,in fact I admire his skill but like a lot of people it would make it more interesting if someone else won it. To be honest though I think the only serious challenger is Nadal.

Nadal has a heavy top spin shot and it should kick off the hard court pretty well, but saying that, Roddick's serve is going to absolutely fly off the court. Djokovic and Roddick are both good hitters when hitting flat and that gives them an advantage when playing into corners and stuff. Plus, Djokovic is in the form of his life.
If Federer wins, which is looking most likely, i will kill myself. I hate that man

Federer, followed by Dokovic, followed by Blake, Hewitt and Nadal. Nadal is still weak on hard (tactically and mentally) and his suffering from his punishing schedule. Sharapova for the women's, she has a cakewalk to the final and Serena Williams (the only one I can envisage beating her) will be knocked out in the quarters by the thorn in her side, Henin. Elsewhere Ivanovic should do well and on a personal level I want to see Nikki Vaidisova go far.

Federer has a good chance of winning, but he needs to deal
with Djokovic and Nadal.
I think Djokovic will win this year US Open on the men side.
Henin is playing good and one cannot under estimate the
William sisters. Serena has a good chance of winning, but she
has not played for long time.
So I think Henin will win.

nadal has no chance. he has a weak second serve on hard court. he is hurt partialy. his leg is weak right now and he is in a mental slump. Djokovic has the best chance besides federer scince he now has some confidence agenst him. blake is going to have a hard time just getting to the semis let alone winning. as for roddick he has a 1-13 record agenst federer and they are going to meet in the qu. i think. Federer win over Djokovic 6-4 6-7 7-5 7-6

While I'm not a gambler, putting money on the line tends to polarize a person's thinking so I always think, "if I were going to lay all my money down on one guy to win, who would I bet on?" That question cuts through who I like the most or whether or not I want Roger to win ANOTHER title.
That being said, I still think the smart money goes on Federer (btw, I do like Roger). As much as I love Rafa's spirit and fire, I just don't think he's going to make it even to the finals. He hasn't proven that he can even make a push at the US Open yet. I'm sure that will change at some point but not this year.
Until Andy makes a decision on his gameplan when he's on the court, I don't know that he's a safe bet either but I'll take him over Djokovic. I think Andy's experience at the Open plus his bigger game may overwhelm Novak. I say that with caution because if Novak and make the points longer, it favors him. But that ain't an easy thing to do with Andy at the US Open.
My dark horse(s) would be either Hewitt, Blake or Baghdatis. Both Hewitt and Blake have had a fantastic summer (Blake just barely missing the win on the Open road tour) and if Marcos can get on a roll, like Djokovic, he can create havoc in the draws.
For the women, it's not as cut and dry. I think the 3 you have to lay the cash on are Sharapova, Venus and Henin. Everyone keeps talking about Serena but I don't think she's in shape for it health-wise. If her thumb injury is real/substantial then she's probably not going to go very deep. If she wins it, one would have to question the severity of her injury to begin with.
My dark horse(s) are Jelena Jankovic and Anna Chakvetadze. Both had fantastic summers. Anna is not as imposing as other players but then neither is Henin.
Keep it between the lines.
