The only time i do it is if i think someone is being really nasty or really discusting.

Yeah, same as you! I don't like it when someone has a legitimate question, and all they receive are nasty, discusting, sarcastic answers.

when its a bad answer some people just go through and give everyone a thumbs down thats stupid to do

When I don't agree with their opinion or they say something stupid of gross. Isn't the point of the Thumbs down to show who has the same opinion? If they do, then they thumbs up, if they don't then they thumbs down.
