if you're an american, please don't get mad. this is just an observation based on facts.
many americans (or even those who are not but grew up in u.s.) are very indipendent. it may be good.. but it seems too early.. i mean at the age 18(?) they move out of their parents house already. how come? can't they stay? is it the child's will to move out or is it a against the law to stay with your parents even if you 're already 18?
i don't understand. plus..many engages in premarital sex. and they even feel so proud about it. but we do all know that it is morally wrong. don't the u.s. gov't do anything about it?
how come diversity is so dominant.. i mean example in disney's high school musical, troy is so afraid to sing because of what others might think..(what's wrong with singing?) or nerds are bullied...
being different. such sin to be different.
it makes me fearful to live there. it maybe shining in glory.. but there are corners rotting inside...

The morals of society have changed over the many years. It used to be that pretty much everyone went to church on Sundays, spanked their kids for bad behavior, and respect for the law and parents was a given. In the current age, none of these norms are true. People that still have high morals and standards are now called intolerant and hate-mongers. It's a shame to see the horrible society today. Political correctness has ruined our great nation.
Don't be afraid to live here in America though. There are still many good and decent people living here. The most important thing is to stand firm for what you believe in, and never compromise your morals.

There is nothing drastically wrong with American youth today or ever. Each nation or a society develops it's own norms and these are adopted with majority consent. There is always scope for improvement and that is the way a society moves forward and America is no exception.Look at the societies where
children of 20-25 years continue to stay with their parents and pray, what extra have they achieved?Nothing spectacular so far.If you take out the religious angle out, what are the ramifications of premarital sex?Nothing serious except health and social concerns. As the time goes by and people like you begin to raise such issues, the society shall debate on them and find an acceptable change, when they are ready. You don't have to be afraid of living in such an open and democratic society as America but feel lucky to be a pert of it.If you don't believe, come over,be my guest and look around the rest of the world where
miseries and threats abound.Note:-I am not a American but a friend and an admirer of America and American people.

There is nothing wrong w/ being an independant person. Not all children move out at 18. That is just the legal age where you are considered an adult. It is not against the law to stay with your parents no matter how old you are. While I agree that there is a lot of premarital sex going on that shouldn't be there is also premarital sex that is just fine. Some people's morals don't have to include marriage. A lot of people in the US have their own individual morals. It's not a sin to be different either. Everyone is different.

We Americans do try to encourage our children to be independent by the time they graduate from high school. No it is not against the law to live with the parents after turning 18. The issue on premarital sex is a sad issue in America. My belief is they were not brought up by the values of the Bible. And society has made bad examples out of someone who is different. Mainly Thur television and bad upbringings. Don't be afraid to be here. Unless you shouldn't be. If you are legal then there is still Glory . And you will find it.

we have a population of almost 400 million people. Making assumptions that 'all americans do thus and such' is the same as saying 'all Europeans do thus and such'.
Lots of our kids WANT to leave home at 18 to see if they can make it. Many of those who leave find it difficult to make it on their own and end up moving back with their parents to complete their education.
College kids often MUST leave home to attend school. Lots of kids stay at home long after turning 18.
Also, I don't think we all 'know' premarital sex is wrong. My own daughter lived with her husband before they were married. Because she was alone in another state, I was happy a male was there as I felt she was safer. They ended up getting married and having a beautiful daugher. I really don't see how any of this harmed her at all. I certainly love and respect her as much if she were a virgin when she married.
It's dangerous to get all your ideas fron Disney movies. Movies and TV aren't reality, they are entertainment only.

This was somewhat of a decent question, and then it slowly trailed off. And for your information, I'm 22 and my mom says that if I want to, which I don't, I could live with her forever. Not everyone is moving out on there own at 18. But yeah, many do.
And America ain't that bad. It's probably a better place to live than Iraq or in the slums of Africa! =P

I left home at 18, that was over 30 years ago, it was quite unusual then. (I wasn't going to college, I was out, supporting myself at 18)
I didn't know that moving out at 18 was very common. Are you talking about 18 years olds living at college dorms, or are you talking about like what I did, out earning a living and being self supporting ?
No, it is not required for someone to move out at 18, but that is the minimum age that it is allowed. What exactly is it that bothers you about that ? Is it reallly any of your business ?
As for pre-marital sex, what do you want the government to do about it ? In America, we value our freedom, and don't really want the gov't to stick it's big nose in our bedrooms ? Do you think we should have a Taliban style government ?
I don't agree with anyone being bullied, I don't understand you point about diversity.
If you want to live with your parents after 18, then you are free to do so. If you don't want to have pre-marital sex, then don't, but don't expect the government to issue you a chastity belt to enforce your preferences.
If you are fearful of living in this country, and fear that it is "rotting" at the corners, then DON'T MOVE HERE !

America is just like any other country. There are some good things about it and some bad things about it. Just like your country. Beside most people by the age of 18 are ready to move out of their parents house and be on their own. I know I did and so did my friends. I would suggest you visit and you will find that it is not as bad as you think.

Where do you live, because I want to move there! My kids would probably love it too! You are quite right actually. My 14 year old daughters school mates are having sex ( 70%) I would guess. Kids want to move out before 18 and can in the USA actually. I believe you can move out at 16, but not sure. Luckily my kids have been raised better than that.

It is not the job of the government to legislate morality.
It is not against the law for a child to remain in their parents home for as long as the child and parent wish.
Diversity is what makes America wonderful. Everyone brings something interesting to the American lifestyle.
And there are places in the world where being different can lead to you being killed.
And if you don't want to live in America, then don't. It's as simple as that.
