I want to hardwire an internet radio and the modem has only one ethernet output which provides internet to my PC. Can I split or run the ethernet into a hub or distributor?

You certainly can, but you'll need a ROUTER not a hub or switch. The router will translate the data from your cable modem so that it can be used with 2 or more devices.

Normally a Router is used.
Cable Modem to WAN port on Router and then you can use the LAN ports for any other computers you wish to connect.

generally speaking, you should connect the modem to a router, and then connect your pc and any other IP-enabled device to the router.
