Self-denial is something we encounter and deal with for the rest of our lives. Yet it is necessary for us to function. It becomes detrimental to our well-being and people around us when we do it excessively. We have to deny some of our perceptions and understandings because they are wrong, no matter how true they are to us, they won't make us happy. Since the whole purpose of our lives is to live a happy life, then we must deny the flaws in our thoughts that would lead to unhappiness. So we are ought to change to be happy, and first step of change is denial of what is already there. Being completely delusional though, crosses the path with our selfishness and excludes the people we affect. As all lessons in life, enjoy everything in moderation, including self-denial.

It depends on what the denial is. Are you avoiding a truth or are you on a diet? Self denial can be a destructive thing. Why not go for Self Awareness. Blessings on you.

It totally depends on what the situation is and what the object is. Take cigarettes for instance...self-denial would be good. Now on the other hand, chocolate...self-denial would be so so bad. =)

You can make your mind sick with mental illness the more you stay in Self-denial..............nothing good can ever come from the stunt in your mental and spiritual and physical growth they all become affected by your denial in what ever it is :)))
Happy day :)))

Denying the truth is also called a delusion. Delusions are quite enjoyable. Delusions are we choose to view the self rather than how the self actually is.
