Gaming contrast help!?

I hope I put this in the right place!

Whenever I play a Nancy Drew game, I have trouble seeing. I'll walk Nancy down a hallway, and I can barely see a thing, thus missing a lot of clues. I was also watching a Nancy Drew trailer, and could barely see a thing! The contrast on my computer is all the way up, so does anyone know how I can make things brighter?

Adjust the brightness.

If you have the option adjust the gamma. Some flat panel monitors allow this, some graphics chipsets allow it too. It may also be in your game setup options.
