From a male prospective, I think when I was younger I did all the time. As I've gotten older I have learned that monogamous sex doesn;t have to be boring, and you can get a deeper emotional intimacy with the same person. There are alot of creative ways to keep it exciting.
When you fantasize about another, you lose the moment you have with the person you love. Your giving something away emotionally that is ment to bring you both together, It takes making Love and cheapens it to sex.

Almost all men, and a good many women, too, occasionally fantasize in this fashion. It isn't a bad thing at all. If it were a symptom of a relationship going bad, they'd likely not be in bed with one another in the first place.

Yes, there is absolutely nothing wrong with fantasizing.
The problem is when you make your fantasy a reality behind your spouse's back.
Trust me, he fantasizes too.

i have before because my lover was not very good...
but my spouse now is amazing... he knows what makes me tick... so now when i close my eyes its him.. and that get me hotter...
i dont think its a bad thing as long as you keep it to yourself... and i am not one to hide things from my spouse... but this will cause waves in the relationship

Everyone does this at some time I would imagine. Its normal and probably healthy as long as it does become an obsession.

Yes, quite often I do. I don't feel bad because it just makes me a better lover. I am sure she does the same.
