need to replace stones around plants and yard with something to keep weds out also best type plants for this

Weeds will grow anywhere there is uncovered earth. You need mulch, and a lot of it to keep an area weed free. You can use landscape fabric with newspapers and cardboard covered by bark chips or gravel.

I would recommend very very fine mesh wire. Something that can be found in nearly every hardware store. Lay this on garden but leave holes for your regular plants to get through. I've also heard about laying down newspaper. it biodegrades, holds moisture and also keeps weeds from growing by keeping the sun off the dirt.

remove the stones and place gardening "tarp" on the ground you will have to cut holes large enough for existing plants you want to keep.. The black tarp is a barrier to keep the sun and rain from letting weeds grow.. You can also plant low ground cover plants like chicks/hens or creeping flox... Things of that nature to seal up any gaps.... Good luck
