You need the font OCR-A installed, then when you want to create a bar code, select that font from your fonts list and type the numbers.

You can install the free 3 of 9 font for Windows and create barcoides in any application that supports True Type font Selection (Word,excel,wordpad......pretty much anything actually).

I can email this font to you if you cannot find it on the web as it is legal to redistribute

You can generate barcodes with any program that can print, actually. What you will need is the appropriate font. You might want to check out the link I have included for your convenience.

Sounds like you have been given some good advice. However, I want to make one point clear. There is more than just one type of bar code. First you need to find out the type of bar coding that your system is using. After that find the appropriate font or add-in program that will allow you to enter that type of bar code.

So you might have the right number entered in bar code for instance. However, if you have used the wrong bar code type, your scanner won't be able to scan it.

A program that updates the record for that number (barcode readers output text). You could write it in VBA in Access or you could write it in another language and link to the mdb file.
