Well, the good news is you're already pretty close to NYC, which will be good for you if you ever do want to actually try for Broadway! For now, though, I think you should practice your craft by continuing to try out for the school musicals each year, and maybe you could get involved in community theater. Every town usually has at least one theater company that holds open auditions that the entire community can try out for. After you get out of high school, if you still love acting and have had a lot of leads in school and community theater plays, you should go to New York, find a reputable agent, and begin auditioning for off-off-Broadway plays to start. Don't get discouraged if you don't land an amazing role right away. It's not because you're not talented, but because there are just so many wildly talented actresses in New York, and there's a lot of competition. I would also suggest joining your school's drama club or taking any acting classes that may be available to you in your area. Luck!

You are already an actress! Just keep acting at school, build up you experience that way when it's time to be serious you have a resume you can work on. If you are ready now, always keep your resume and a head shot with you when you go to auditions, oh and have either a commercial or monologue prepared and memorized. Good luck to you, from a fellow actress.

You already are an actress if you act. Keep on doing what your doing. A professional actress has an agent.
Don't most schools do plays that were on Broadway... mine does?

Why not try to join audition for commercials or a talent search, that will showcase your talent
