Is the additional of numbers (Mathematically).

3- (-8) = 3- *-8

3+8 where (-*-) is +
therefore answer is 11

to make the 8 a positive you have to change the symbol to an add. so it becomes 3 + 8 = 11

1+(-1)=1-1
1-(+1)=1-1
1-(-1)=1+1

if the signs between the two numbers are the same, u add the two numbers together. but if they are different, i.e - and +, u subtract.
therefore,
3-(-8)
=3+8
=11
