To all my friends and those living in Greece at this time: My thoughts, hopes and prayers are with you. It is such a shame to see such a beautiful country and heritage ruined. I am thinking of all those who have lost loved ones, and all those who have been affected.

Don't let this get you down, don't let those who mock upset you.

Keep The Faith, all my love, CJ xxx

Another Brit living in Greece (mainland - Epirus) Thanks for your thoughts. Often Greeks feel forgotten by the rest of the world. I hope other countries decide to help Greece. Unfortunately most people in mountain villages are the elderly (young leave to work in cities) Some haven't even left the mountain - nor seen the sea (apart from at a distance) Where on earth do you relocate these villagers whose lives move at a completely different pace to the rest of town/city life?? An elderly farmer who has lost everything .... what to do? Greeks are very reluctant to share their land - but people are giving their land away to help the farmers who have lost everything and know no other way of life besides olives and sheep/goats! The villagers are the poorest of all Greeks, unlike people in the UK (for example) where the villages are inhabitated by the wealthy. Most of the houses were built with stones. Most don't have central heating nor kitchens as we know but cook on a boiler. Spare a thought as CJ has done - Greece is not just a 'seaside' resort for the tourist's pleasure, but a proud community as well.

I agree with all my fellow "answerers". As we are booked to go to Corfu in 2 weeks I am hoping someone (airlines, travel agents, reps) has organised some way we can help. Maybe donations on the plane, at the hotel or resort reps may help some of those wonderful greek farmers/villagers help to re-build their lives. It makes me quite ill to think of some thoughtless criminal types or ruthless property developers starting such destructiveness. My thoughts, best wishes and prayers are with all of the kind, helpful and lovely greek people who have lost so much.

Bless you. I am in Greece but away from the fires thankfully. My heart goes out to those who have lost loved ones and everything they own.

Edit - and then we get people like this, read Rhonda's answer. In another post Rhonda says he/she hopes the Greeks burn well. What a world we live in eh?
