I just had my front door replaced with frame and the frame needs paint. The side panel are somekind of architectural foam or synthetic material. The installer said don't use an oil base paint. Can anyone elaborate on this? Does this sound correct?

oil base paint contains a solvent, this will attack the trim, , and dissolve the foam, that,s why you want to use a latex [water base] paint
