i am growing herbs in my garden and need to know how i can dry them to preserve and use in cooking.

Since I live in a dry climate, I can air dry them. More humid areas may need to use the oven (if you can keep it below 100 degrees) or a special food dehydrator.

You can tie them in bunches, not too thick, and hang them up inside. You can lay them on a tea towel inside and turn them daily. In a week or two they'll be dry.

Some lose their taste when dried, such as basil and tarragon. They will be better if frozen.
