I have a BA in Business Administration and currently working for an investment company. Would I need to get my MBA in finance? Any information would be helpful.

Previous answer is good except for the part about "in most states".

Unlike a CPA, a CFP is not legally regulated and doesn't give you any special privelidges under state law.

It is a privately issued credential that documents a certain level of education and experience. See below.

CFP: Certified financial planners must meet experience and education requirements and pass a 10-hour exam in most states.

A financial planner who has completed study and passed examinations in risk management, investments, tax planning, retirement planning, and estate planning. Must have a minimum level of three years experience, continue to update knowledge in the field, and adhere to prescribed code of ethics.

Continuing Education/Experience Requirements: 30 hours every 2 years

Hope this helped.
