I’m an alien from a consortium of worlds, sent to see if the Earth is worthy of existence. We are peaceful; promote free trade, equality & freedom for all. We dedicate ourselves to education & exploration.

We know Earth is riddled with bigotry, religious intolerance, greed & violence. The leaders maintain power by preventing their populations from growing intellectually. The governments of the planet have squelched most space exploration. Some governments starve their people into submission. Others use religion to deprive people of basic human rights. There is no government on Earth free of these flaws.

Should I:

1) Leave Earth alone, hope it evolves & becomes a better place in the future; despite signs it will not.
2) Destroy the governments, warn the people not to repeat the same mistakes & take this opportunity to grow as a species.
3) Destroy Earth, & spare the universe future grief. The people put these governments in place to begin with. They’ll do it again.

You can save yourself the time and energy about destroying the earth because people (corporatists and the governments who support them) will probably cause the destruction of the world via global warming in about 50 years. the burning of Arabian oil will cause a chemical shift in the atmosphere, methane stores will be released from the sea, the atmosphere will heat up, water will dry up, and most life will end due to starvation and rising temperatures. After a long while, the atmosphere will probably reset itself. At that time, you might consider revisiting the situation and monitoring the experiment more closely.

You sound awesome. So certainly you must realize that humans are emerging out of a technological and intellectual adolescence. Perhaps you could spare us for the moment.

I suggest a fourth alternative: That without destroying all governments, you teach our species all that you know, like in the myth of Prometheus granting fire to human beings. :-) I for one want to know how to make hot pink fancy pants that will allow me to travel in space.

I pick option two, but if at all possible, could you use your highly advanced alien technology to make the destruction take the form of a zombie plague? I think the experience of having to unify in order to fight off hordes of the walking dead would be good for humanity.

That would be great.

Thanks.
