Two products I saw at a hardware store; Rust Out and Iron Out; white bottle with red and blue labels.
Also I would contact the mfg. and ask about this problem. It should not be doing this.
Meanwhile can you get a big sponge to soak the standing water out before doing laundry until you get the problem fixed ?

I have just the thing for getting rust stains out! I have also had trouble with rust stains. I tried just about everything and the only thing that worked for me is a product called The Works.
As long as you remove the stains before you dry your clothes it does a great job. My husband has to wear white clothes to work and he can't stand it when his whites are dingy. I usually buy this product at Family Dollar to get the best price but you can get it other places too. It comes in a green bottle and it says rust, lime and calcium remover on the front. And if you have problems with rust stains in your toilet The Works also has a product for that too and it works really great. One suggestion though. Since your problem seems to be coming from your washer you may want to wait and use this product in the rinse cycle. I just pour a whole bottle in the washer and it has never hurt my clothes. Another thing. If your washer has rust stains in the drum of your washer this product might get rid of it and you may not have to use it every time. Good luck!

Rust stains on clothing are miserable, but can be removed.

Unfortunately, most stain remedies require you to rewash the garment... and if your washer is actually causing the rust stains, you're taking a chance that while you're removing one stain the washer is depositing rust in a different place.

But, you asked how to remove rust... here're two suggestions:

#1: The best home"organic" remedy is a damp paste of lemon juice and salt... mix it together, apply liberally to each "spot" of rust and then lay the garment in the sun to dry.

Once the paste is thoroughly dry, let it 'set' overnight then wash the garment. Before putting the garment in the dryer, check for any rust stains... if they're still there, do the paste routine again. Never, EVER dry a stained garment... it sets the stain and makes it much harder to get out.

#2: At most grocery/supermarkets, Wal-Marts, Targets, numerous drugstores, etc., in the Laundry aisle, you'll find itty-bitty bottles of Carbona Stain Devils (see link, below). They have MANY formulas and, yes, one just for rust.

I've never had a rust-stained garment not respond to the Carbona Stain Devil rust remover... and it didn't hurt the garment, either (white denim jeans, light pink cotton polos and several cotton/rayon dress shirts).

The price is a lil' steep ($2.50-$3.50 per bottle), but well worth it.

Hope this helps,

try rubbing with bi carb or bleach and your washer must be under warranty so complain about it. find someone with the same washer and find out if they have the same problem. is the washer sitting on level ground ? maybe the water is pooling because it's not level ? I'm just thinking out loud....i would contact the manufacturer.

I believe Whink had a product to reduce rust stains in white clothes. http://www.whink.com/rust_and_iron_stain_remover.htm

I was thinking about a new washer, more I hear about them, I'll stick with my old one for awhile.

Return the machine and buy a different brand.
