I think a lot have had that already. In my community, when the local regiment came back, the city rolled out the red carpet for them.

This isn't like WWII. Troops are circulating in and out of country constantly. When they begin to decrease the size of the forces in Iraq and Afghanistan, troops will come home incrementally. There's not going to be a definitive treaty that's ends things in a single day.

I'm sure towns will have special events for local heroes but no, there will probably not be a grand NY ticker tape parade.

It would be nice to have a ticker tape parade.. if there was ticker tape.. but this LIBERAL would ten times rather they get needed mental and physical health care, education benefits and all the respect they deserve. They have served this country, and the country shouldn't abandon them. The way military personnel have been treated in this country is unconscionable

There hasn't been a ticker tape parade in years. But the troops are welcomed with celebrations now and I don't expect that to change. Nor should it.

BuggedInMn, I really don't think that too many liberals are members of the Westboro Baptist Church. Look it up and know what the hell you're talking about before you type.

i think such things are bound to an earlier time and place, a less lied to community glad to see the ending of WW2, a war that killed over 55million.
Iraq while no less a threat to the common solder, is different in-that the war is based on lies, and has been proved with world wide agreement. so while i think most people Honor and thank the common solder for the duty, a ticker tape parade seems rather phony, even FOX like...

The country is jaded now.
Yes there will be a parade but, it will be poorly attended and that will be worse than no parade because the media will focus on the crowds that did not meet an expectation they invent.
Once again, we have been handed a defeat not by our enemy and not because of our troops but rather by our own people led by a complicit media.

I hope they get the same reward that all people who have served do when they return from battle .
Bush has already tucked away 10 million dollars to get the party started .

No I do not, but then again, I don't think they expect one either. The environmentalist will go berserk with all the confetti all over the place. Our Military just want to finish what they started and come home and get back to their every day lives.

No, but they should, and that's one expense that I wouldn't mind my tax $$ going to fund.

Nope.

They fight for their country with rifles and bombs.
They return to their country without weapons or protection (none supposedly needed.)

You tell me if they slide in quietly or under radar with how most the spitting liberals treat them upon return.
