Michael Vick was fighting dogs for less than 3 years and he get all the attention in the world and many 'haterz'
Rapper DMX has been fighting dogs for 9 years and he gets on the news only once.
What is up with this world?

The media loves to destroy the people who fall the hardest. Michael Vick is a well known and admired athelete so he had the most to lose. That's what's up wid dat.

Athletes are held to a higher standard by society because they serve as role models to people, and are more easily accessible to impressionable people, as their careers are played out on broadcast television. Entertainers like DMX exert less influence on mainstream society because exposure to them can be blocked by parental filters and exposure to them as role models doesn't happen unless it's through the purchase of a CD, magazine, etc.
