Cards are on the table, start off 9/11, in fact, go back further, say around the late 50s, I was in grade school. There were no gangs, no terrorist. If i remember the worst thing was, getting a spanking for screwing up. Yes, in those days ,spanking wasn't an endangerment (child) . It was let me think, lets say CORRECTIVE ACTION. TIMES have changed . We didn't have I.D. theft or some idiots blowing them selves up for ????????????????????????? and killing innocent people. I don't want my name or picture in the paper. There is no normalcy any more, just day to day living. Afraid of thugs, i don't think so, high velocity bullets YES. IF i remember, back in the day, there were no personnel computers, laptops, or have to worry about you're children wearing the wrong color clothes, or wear they live. I don't know your age, but if you go to the library, they should have back dated newspapers covering late 50s, 60s, early 70s. It wasn't bad. We had problems,Segregation/Integration, BUT NO CRAZY PEOPLE DOING WHAT THEY ARE DOING TODAY. hAVE A gOOD dAY

You have to admit that even though some people like to surf the net there are some crazy people out there. So to avoid all the drama until they find what they are looking for and can trust the person the just assume to remain a mystery.Whatever you identify with becomes real for you and defines your life. .... People might not know who they are and project an image ...

if you live in a neighbour hood of crooks, you would not like to announce loudly how much valuables you have at home or when there will be no one home!
Or if you have info about a gang of robbers in your area, you would againbe discreet and quitely pass the info to the police or warn your neighbours without putting a big notice on your front door.

For starters you have not given your own picture and about
your name only you know if it is real. As for me I have given
my own real name. I really don't know how to give ones
own true picture because when yahoo approached me
and showed me the different avatars I was operating laptop
for the first time and the button got pressed and they
immediately accepted silhouette as my avatar. About
others I don't care. Ciao.

well it is very normal to secure urself on the net now a days.there was a time when we all wanted to place r best foto on the net especially on places like orkut and other social websites but mydear cyber crime is a bitter reality.i have been the victim of this too on orkut!my foto and my name were used to create a fake profile which sent all absurd msgs to my frends and links!i had a tuff time with dat!and besides all this "morphing" is very dangerous!our face can be pasted on some one else's body and it is usually done on **** sites!now to secure oneself from all this is very normal!both 4 guys and gals!and let ur frends knw that u r there with this foto and name so they will nvr confuse u with any other fake person!

There are numerous cases of identity theft every year. There also is no reason that you should post your name, photo and or personal details on the web. Consider this, would you print out fliers with your name, photo and contact info and post them at random locations around the world?

Hiding your name and picture of yourself is one of the smartest ways to keep yourself protected. You can get a ton of information on a person based on little bits, like their name or picutre. That's why avitars are so popular, you can show yourself without showing yourself. Also your question is worded very oddly. I think you need to rethink the way your asking this question. Just say what you mean, don't try to "flower" it up with larger words.

Your command of the English language seems far more advanced than your understanding of the real world.
Once you put something out on the 'net, you simply have no way of controlling who has access to it.

One does not need to reveal his or her identity all the time. Like Phanthom, Spiderman, Batman etc. one gets innate strength and power by hiding their real identity.
