Don't need to read it - I wouldn't eat it anyway.

The whole process is pretty nasty isn't it? I used to eat foie gras because it tastes so incredible, but the realization of that procedure put me off of it. Did you ever wonder who in the world dreamed that up in the first place? What would have to cross your mind that you'd decide, "hey, if I trap this goose, and I stick a hose down it's throat..." Weird, huh?

what baffles me is why the animal rights people aren't screaming from the rooftops abouth this on a daily basis. dont get me wrong i believe everyone should be screaming from the rooftops but i just dont know why they are not making it a top priority to end this barbaric treatment, it is nothing but torture, animals slaughtered are supposed to be done in an humane way (the pros and cons of this can be argued until the proverbial cows come home) but the production fois gras is damnable. these poor animals are being deliberately tortured.

I saw a film about this years ago, I have never eaten the stuff
I cant believe how cruel this is
We know what it feels like to eat to much and cant move just imagine being force fed again and again on a full stomach , it doesn't bear thinking about
This should be stopped throughout so call civilised countries

I've never eaten that or veal since I was told by my 'Farmer' Uncle 50 years ago how they were produced. Campaigns to stop it come and go but the people with power win em all.
Perhaps with the power of the internet this one might succeed!

I didn't need to read it... I already knew... It is quite horrible... Unfortunately, some chefs are calling it other things and still getting away with using foie gras... (BTW, I am a vegetarian...)

Thanks for posting this! I have never eaten fois gras, I didn't even know what it was till I read this, and after reading this article there is no way I would eat it. That kind of cruelty must be stopped. I'm not a vegetarian, but I do believe animals should be bred, kept, and killed humanely. Thanks again for bringing my attention to this shocking article.
