Is it unlawful for a child (under 16) to sign a contract that threatens legal action if you don't follow some of the principles in the contract?

This is a very trivial contract, but it states that if we do sign the contract and use school computers for purposes that a teacher thinks are not "good," legal action may taken.

A contract signed by a minor child is not enforceable under law.

it is not illegal for a child to sign a contact but is voidable and unenforceable against the child

what type of contract are we talking about that threatens legal action for non-compliance never heard of such in a civil context

There is nothing illegal about the signing itself... (i.e. no one could be arrested for a fifteen year old signing a contract).

However, the contract may not be binding. Check with a lawyer in your jurisdiction...

it's unlawful indeed...underage are not supposed to sign contracts without parental consent or guidance because they can easily be cheated by the drafter of the contract without fully understanding the consequences.

I don't think they can be prosecuted for violating the contract as they are minors.
