You may or may not be eligible to enter the US under the Visa Waiver Programme. In order to determine if you need a B-2 visa go to the following site:
http://www.usembassy.org.uk/cons_new/visa/index.html
Click on the highlighted visa waiver programme in the Visa eligibility page and then select the visa waiver wizard. It will help you determine if you will need to see a counsellor at the US Embassy for Visa advice.

This was not a problem before, but now if you have any arrest, whether or not it resulted in a conviction you may be denied entry under the visa waiver programme.

This is the current advice to UK travellers from the US embassy.

Best to check with the US Embassy, it may be that you are ineligible under the US Visa Waiver programme. They have tightened up such alot with all the security checks. If you are going through a travel agent they should now
