Hi all off the borovets (bulgaria) in feb 2008 wonder what currency i should take?

Thanks for the answers.

But i got told to get my currency before i go as you can get ripped off.But surely if you get the money from an atm this should not be a problem?

Also another problem with two currencies is that the exchange rate for the gb pound and the euro thats if the (euro is not in use) could differ and i really need to know which one would give me the best return

Don't be tempted by dodgy people hanging around in front of banks and exchange places, who offer to give you 3 leva for a pound. They are incredibly dexterous and you will be bitterly sorry you parted with your money for a pile of newspaper cuttings in the shape of bank notes.

The official rate is 1 UK pound = 2.84 BG leva, the rate fluctuates slightly.

Remember to look for exchange bureaus that have a sign NO COMMISSION.

Levs...it is going to be a while they start using the euro.Your best bet is to exchange your money there,at an exchange rate place, not at the airport. They are everywhere. Most of them do not have any commissions. They just use the official exchange rate of the day.I was there in June and it was $1--1.46 levs...of course that changes on a daily basis.
Have a good time.Borovets is wholesome...

Take English pounds and change at the various bureaux there as the rate is fixed each day for tourists. It is still the lev by the way. No euro yet.

Lev.
Euros, Sterling and Dollars are widely accepted.
The cheapest way to get Levs is to wait till you get there and draw them out of the ATM at the airport.

Euro is always a better idea.

If the rates change, it won't be possible to say which is best until you are about to travel.

And even then, it could vary from place to place.
