Candidates are so desperate to get a good start in the primaries, they have been known to make promises to the locals that they should not be making. The system is getting out of hand.
Most countries can hold an election in less than two months. Using two years is expensive, distracting, and eliminates some of the best candidates.
In anticipation of an election over a year away, little serious work is getting done and both parties should be embarrassed.

More Republican dirty tricks.

Florida had to pass a law that would allegedly cure the fraud that happened in the last two presidential elections, so being a Republican sate, the Republicans got p**ed off and slipped in a provision moving their primary date up so far that it would disrupt the democratic process. If the Democrats voted against the overall bill, it would defeat the electoral voting itself, so they were forced to vote for it.

The Republicans are trying to do about the same thing only on another trickier scheme out in California (under their Republican Governor Swatzinager) so that it will be IMPOSSIBLE for any Democrat to carry that state in a presidential election in the future.

You have to give them one thing, The Republicans are a sneaky crowd (although they allegedly stand for law and order), and the funny thing is that the people keep letting them get away with it.

The whole world is laughing, except us.
