i always feel safe.But then i havn't got retarted drunken rednecks cruising around with shot guns in my neck of the woods.

When I was that age I would just make sure the doors were locked. There are 6 kids in my family so we never had the time to be scared when the folks weren't home, just happy to run around like maniacs, lol. Being left home in the USA isn't any different from any other country. My parents were leaving us home alone since the age of 9 (my sister) and 8 (me) to take care of our siblings who were 6, 3, 2, and a infant. My folks worked ALL day, they had 6 kids!!!! We never had our parents breathing down our necks but we never got into trouble either. We just knew the rules of keeping ourselves safe and didn't open the door for anyone.

My german shepard, she is very protective. I expecially feel safe at night because she walks through the house several times a night checking the doors and checking on everyone in there rooms. She hears everything so I can sleep soundly.
