Why don't you just have the problem fixed that causes them to come on too late - you know, like normal people would do - instead of some half-assed Gomer alternative.

please tell me what your car make model engine size and miles. This is information that helps the most. Your radator full of tree seeds and debris try washung with garden hose nozzel back to front. There is an underlying condition that needs to be fixed. Running your head light all the time because half the day is dark? that is what your doing with your fan and will cause a 10 to 20 amp load on the alternator. The car traveling at 40 miles an hour there is no electric fan that can push air that fast. AT 40 there is almost no need for fan. DO not connect a power to the fan if it is plugged in the Engine control may be shorted to power. ANd if you accidently leave the switch on the battery will be dead when you get back to the car.

Yes. For each fan, run a wire from the positive side of the battery to a switch inside the car, then a wire to an in line fuse then to the hot side of the connector on the fan. Then run a wire from the negative side of the fan to ground or directly to the negative side of the battery.
Just remember to turn the fan s on and off each time.
Have you tried to change the coolant temperature sensor. that is usually why the fans do not operate properly.

i used to have the same prob. with my 01' monte carlo you do not want to play with wires unless you know what you are doin so there are a couple options first if it is rear wheel then just get a mechanical fan thats the one that is atatched to the engine or if its frnt wheel and you want to keep the electric fans then order a new sensor with a lower temp setting auto zone napa jegs they will all have them
