Never had an ant farm either, but I can't help but be reminded of the episode of Malcolm in the Middle where Dewey talks about how he watched an ant hill for hours and got so bored he just started smiting them. Those ants could have been praying to him but he would have never known - he just kept smiting them over and over. It was pretty funny.

If they work hard, store for the winter, have a low tolerance for non-working ants, and fight to keep other ants from moving into their territory, they are republicans. If they sit on their butts, and try to redistribute the food gathered by the hard-working ants, and let lots of other ant colonies mooch off of them, they are democrats

They're republican if they don't like ants from Mexico and won't allow gay ants to get married.
They're democrat if they take money from other ants and redistribute it to those on a lower socio-economic rung of the ladder.

Look... Take a photo of Bush, put it in one side of the kingdom, and take some sugar and put it in the other side.. if the ants went to the sugar before the picture of Bush then they are democrats, if they went to bush picture first, then they are democrats too.. since they will eat it!
