Does the media know something they have extracted from the investigation authoroties and have to keep stump? They have resources and allways seem to find the fire that creates the smoke. Why else would they make accusations. Media have not done this to genuine unfortunate people before

I was once asked a leading question by a reporter. Before I had time to say no, he wrote yes in his notebook and I looked foolish the following day when it appeared.

The only accusations I have read about have been in the Portuguese press.
The British press seems to have remained on line but have quoted a few snippets from the Portuguese. I have not seen a single accusation though.

If they are saying the McCanns kiled her, how much further can they go?
In theory anything appearing in the Portuguese press should be speculation, unless the police have given out information, because of the secrecy laws.
"With regard to a criminal investigation, this means that the law enforcement agency carrying out the investigation cannot give any information out to the media."
In fact the Portuguese police have it seems done this.
As far as the UK press is concerned they have relied on the Portuguese press for much of their information.

Of course they have! The media is always jumping to conclusions and writing stuff with no proof! It is why they get sued so often and also why you can never truly believe what you read!

it is hard to tell if the media is actually reporting the truth or if it's all heresay.
