Poor you, I'm 24 weeks pregs and sorry to say I've had thrush on and off throughout alot of my pregnancy so far. My doctor gave me caneston cream, and you can also use Caneston Duo which is a cream and a pessary if you have internal thrush (like a tablet u put inside your vagina) The pessary always works for me brilliantly. Also try putting some natural live yogurt around the area every night, it works wonders!!!

Hi, im pretty sure you can take Canesten cream while pregnant as i did with my 2nd as i had really bad thrush. If they can see you are pregnant, they wont give it you. But if you go to your doctors and get a prescription, you will be able to get it. Plus if you get it on prescription, its free as your pregnant. I had it that many times, i would just send my boyfriend into Boots in the end to buy it for me! save me going back and fourth from the doctors. I doubt cranberry juice will do much. You need a cream to stop the itching/soreness. Try washing down there regularly and pat dry, wear cotton knicker that are not too tight and don't rub and visit your doctor.

Hi,

I didn't have trush in pregnancy but just wanted to say have you thought about phoning the NHS Direct and explaining that you are pregnant and wanting to treat your trush? They may reccomend something or may have a NHS Walk in centre where you can go.

I wouldn't take any of the medicines the others have reccomended as although it has worked for them each body is different so it best to check if it suitable for you in your stage of pregnancy and any allergies you may have to what it made of.

It is always best to seek medical professionals first before treating yourself as they will then be able to access you and prescribe some pessaries that are safe to use in pregnancy.

If you are about 3 months pregnant or less the doctors may not want to to prescribe you anything. However some of the following rememdies may help ....SPEAK TO DOCTOR FIRST! ...

1) Apply witch-hazel compresses or ice packs to infected areas.

2) Eat natural live yoghurt which should restore the proper bacterial balance in your vagina. However, you will have to wait a while to relief from itching.

3) Wear cotton underware.

4) Avoid any warm baths, as these wil provide the bacteria with a nice warm environment to flourish.

Ring the NHS Direct number now on 0845 4647 - they open 24 hrs and over holidays too!

Lx

There are various types of anti-thrush creams and pessaries. Most contain ‘-azole’ drugs, such as clotrimazole, econazole, fenticonazole or miconazole.
I've tried miconazole and it clears it up within a few days but some creams are not allowed to be used by pregnant women so I would definately visit your doctor.

Cold calamine lotion on a cotton wool pad will help the itch. Drink loads of water to help. Canestan is generally accepted to be safe but ask the pharmacist.
