Yes! without the ozone the earth would freeze. The greenhouse effect it causes actually holds in heat enough so we can live. We are far enough from the sun that without it we would be a giant snowball.

Ozone concentration in the stratosphere helps us whereas ozone found near the ground level is considered to be harmful.
At the ground level, it is an air pollutant.it plays a part in the formation of smog.If we breathe ozone, we may get cough, throat irritation and sometimes chest pain. If we continue to breathe ozone that too when the concentration is more in the air(ie above the desired level),it may damage the lungs.More concentration of it also affects vegetation and reduces crop production. But the use of ozone in water(ozonised mineral water)destroys all micro organisms and removes the bad odours, the resultant water is absolutly safe, pure, fresh and healthy. It does not leave any residue in the water unlike the chlorine which leaves some residue which is also consumed along with water. Thus ozone is ultimate in disinfection.
The layer in the lower stratosphere really helps us in many ways.It is concentrated between 20 25 kms from the ground. It traps the harmful ultra-violet rays from the sun.
A severe depletion of this ozone layer will increase chances of skin cancer, eye cataract, and suppression of the immune system of the human body.Food crops sensitive to ultra-violet rays will also be affected.

The highest levels of ozone in the atmosphere are in the stratosphere, in a region also known as the ozone layer between about 10 km and 50 km above the surface (or between 6.21 and 31.1 miles). Here it filters out the shorter wavelengths (less than 320 nm) of ultraviolet light (270 to 400 nm) from the Sun that would be harmful to most forms of life in large doses. These same wavelengths are also among those responsible for the production of vitamin D, which is essential for human health.

Ozone in the upper atmosphere filters potentially damaging ultraviolet light from reaching the Earth's surface. It is present in low concentrations throughout the Earth's atmosphere. It has many industrial and consumer applications. Ozone therapy is a controversial alternative medicine practice; mainstream scientific medicine has found ozone to be harmful to humans, and equipment intended to be used for ozone therapy is banned in the United States

UV radiation varieties ozone, O3, from O2. How do you think of ozone ranges are going up lower back? we've stopped freeing the chemical compounds that smash it, and it extremely is being replenished over the years the comparable way it has consistently formed. there grew to become into no ozone layer at first. single celled organisms do not want one. Cyanobacteria at last developed and created the oxygen environment by photosynthesis. Then the ozone layer formed.

Let's see, in the movie "Chronicles of Riddick"......
the prison was on a planet called Crematoria.
The surface was constantly heated up over & over & turned to ash. We are not as close to the sun as Mercury is - Sun>Mercury>Venus>Earth - but without the protection of the ozone to keep harmful rays out. The internal temperature would rise and heat us up, causing our core to magma core to erupt all over...... volcanoes, etc all over the surface.
Global warming would be nothing to what all would be next in store for us from what this chain reaction would all start.
Is someone trying to make history repeat itself or something ?? That would not be smart ......

It would be simpler to go to Dictionary.com and look up ozone but I will just list two good things it does.
It protect us human from the very harmful uv rays of the sun. (They cause sunburn.)
It seals in all of the gas we use on earth. hmm like OXYGEN. (Tt is what we use to breathe.)
Hope it helps

it's helpful when it's far from us.the O3 layer protects our earth but it also creates some harmful effects.
ozone can also be used to destroy germs
