..Can a person with the house no longer in their name still collect rent?

The short answer is yes, but only in certain circumstances. Ift sounds as though you "were" an owner of record, but regardless, here's a couple of the most common situations that come to mind....

1. You are renting the house and sublet all or part of it (very common in college towns);

2. You lease-option the home and in turn L/O to another buyer-tenant (very common with investors)

There are many other situations too, but in either of these, you don't have to own the property, only control it, to collect rents.

Huh? If you don't own the property you have no legal entitlement to any rents paid by any tenants. That should be so obvious that it hardly bears asking the question.
