The jap and european engineers can get the same results with a smaller 2litre turbo engine!

AMERICA NEED TO REDUCE THERE CARBON FOOTPRINT (or the whole world is going to suffer from there greed)

Not the same results....not even close...... not in horsepower, less than half the torque..... I agree we dont need 8 litre engines..... and all the horsepower..... 500 horsepower plus and our highways are between 55 and 70 mph..... I guess Americans love the thrill of fast take offs and speed...... then you have a car getting 16 mpg on the highway..... but thats up to you, if you want that muscle car than you can buy it and feed it. Its all your choices, and here in America we have all those choices..... Im happy with 300 horses...... and a 2 litre import cant match upto a monster American muscle machine any day of the year....

Excellent response, JH!

I would just like to add that the average Japanese or European doesn't travel the distances on a daily basis that we do here in the USA , or carry the loads we do when they do drive their little econoboxes. I'd like to see gaznoble try to pull the 10,000 lb trailers that I normally haul over the Sierra Nevada and Rocky Mountains with his little 2 liter turbo car.

Oh... I use a 6.6 Liter turbo-diesel

The average American car is not 8 litres! The average American sedan is 2.0 - 3.0 litres, our trucks are 3.0 - 4.6 litres. Some of the biggest gas guzzlers are Ferrari's who get 8 MPG, Maserati, Rolls Royce, Bentley, Bugatti also have abysmal fuel ratings. Yet our Corvette Z06 gets 505 HP and excellent fuel mileage.

Is there a coincidence that Mercedes Benz whose majority shareholders are Saudi Arabian has a much worse average fuel economy than BMW which is held by the Quandt family, yet BMW has a performance advantage over Mercedes Benz. Oh and why is Chris Bangle and the BMW design headquarters located in the USA? Also why was Mercedes Benz with their superior engineering able to take a profitable company like Chrysler who had 25 BILLION US Dollars in reserve and run them in the ground, raid their reserves (which would have landed Jurgen Schremp in JAIL had he been a US citizen) and force Chrysler to be sold off at a HUGE loss. Likewise Mercedes could not Manage Mitsubishi and their 37% stake which they sold to an AMERICAN investment firm that made 1 billion on the subsequent re-sale to the Japanese keiritsu associated with Mitsubishi.

What 2.0L are trouncing 8.0L vipers? The FORD FOCUS F200, yes and that engine was designed in California U.S.A. European turbo technology peaked in the mid 80's with cars like the Renault 5 Turbo II, Alpine A310GT. SAAB was revered for its 180 HP 2.0 in the 80's now 180 HP puts you in the cheap seats. Americans drive too many miles, and turbo's simply have relliability problems.

America would readily purchase many of the diesel's that are currently on the market in Europe, however their emissions do not meet our stricter emission requirements. Engines like Ford's Duratorq, VM Motori, PSA, etc never see our shores, due to high NOx and sulfur emissions.

As for European cars, they have been sold here with dismal results. The Cadillac Catera was an Opel, Most of the Saturn lineup has been Opel engines, Daewoo used engines built by Holden (GM Austrailia) The Merkur was a German Ford, Alfa Romeo, FIAT were sold here but were un-reliable rust buckets, Peugeot left our shores when the warranty claims resulting from their shoddy workmanship caught up with their overpriced garbage. The entire british car industry folded due to stale engineering, bad electrical systems (lucas) poor craftsmanship, and egotistical managment practices, the British auto industry was largely resurrected by America with some help from Germany (mainly BMW, who owned Rover (Land Rover sold to Ford) Rolls Royce and Bentley (sold to VW) Mini (BMW Owned built in England with a CHRYSLER engine) And Ford owns Land Rover, Astin Martin. Sorry but with the exception of Mercedes and BMW (still European Owned) Volvo is Ford, and SAAB is GM, European cars have proved to be un-reliable, un-safe, and un-suitable to our American needs.

Lets be frank here my friend, the majority of the factories located across the European Union would not meet the strict EPA standards imposed in the USA, it is due to these standards that have essentially KILLED manufacturing here in the USA. If you want a country that gross pollutes without control or regard for the rest of the world look at China, India, Russia and most of the developing world that are more focused on a buck today that they are polluting the oceans of tomorrow.

Does the engine have sturdy compression whilst chilly. Are all of the cylinders showing the comparable compression whilst chilly. you ought to have the comparable readings whilst heat if not greater suitable. whilst the engine is heat verify in case you have any clearance between the valves and camshaft. in case you engine has hydraulic followers you are going to be able to desire to be getting a upward push in oil stress whilst heat somewhat lifting the valves off there seats which will then decrease your compression. this may well be brought about via a sticking oil stress relief valve. to substantiate this carry out oil stress exams whilst chilly then whilst warm .The stress ought to be decrease whilst warm.

there is no way those little weak 2 litre turbo engines could hang with a 8 litre I don't care if you pulling or racing the v-8 will win its just a proven fact.
