I received an email saying that covering your head with a blanket or a comforter while sleeping affects your brain function.

Im a bit alarmed with the email I got. The email also says that "no breakfast" affects your brain function too.

I cannot sleep without covering my head with a blanket. I do not eat breakfast as well.

Can these affect the function of my brain?

No, covering your head with a blanket while sleeping will not affect your brain function. You might feel too warm; asphyxiated or claustrophobic.

Breakfast is considered an important meal because it breaks the overnight fasting period, replenishes your supply of glucose and provides other essential nutrients to keep your energy levels up throughout the day.

Skipping breakfast
Extensive research in Australia and overseas has found:

Many children who skip breakfast are significantly heavier than those who eat breakfast.
Skipping breakfast can diminish mental performance. Breakfast helps learning, as you are better able to pay attention and are more interested in learning.
Eating high fibre breakfast cereals reduces fatigue.
Children who eat an inadequate breakfast are more likely to make poor food choices for the rest of the day and in the long term.
People who eat breakfast have more nutritious diets than people who skip breakfast, and have better eating habits as they are less likely to be hungry for snacks during the day.
‘Going without’ becomes more common with advancing age - approximately 15 per cent of teenagers and one third of adults don’t eat breakfast.

Some one is pulling your leg. Covering your head is not going to have any effect on your brain function. If it helps you to sleep better it may improve your brain function.

Eating something for breakfast is more important though,it is fuel for your brain and body and it is the most important meal of the day. it "breaks" your "fast" of the night.Try something light even, toast or a piece of fruit or instant oatmeal & see if you feel better during the day.

Actually there is a study that not only says that it does this but that it also increases you chances of getting alzheimer's and dementia. This is due to the decrease in oxygen and the increase rebreathing of carbon dioxide. Here is the link www.prweb.com/releases/2010/03/prweb3744854.htm.
