There's no hurry to get labor moving if you're on antibiotics. We have women in the hospital who rupture VERY early, like at 25 weeks, and we keep them on bedrest and many of them don't deliver until 34 weeks and beyond. There is no limit to how long you can be ruptured so long as you are being treated with antibiotics.

At 36 weeks, labor could still be weeks away - even after rupturing. Don't stress yourself out and make yourself tired by walking like crazy, cleaning house, etc. Just put your feet up, relax, and enjoy having your baby inside you for this precious time you have left. Let your baby grow and mature.

Good luck and congrats!

That's so good that they put you on anti-biotics. You def. need them. Don't worry about not having contractions yet, the baby just isn't ready. What ever you do, do not take caster oil. My husband's grandmother told me that she did it like 50 years ago and it did nothing but leak out her rear end. That's probably the last thing you want to happen right now:) The only other way that I've ever heard of people making themselves actually have contractions besides from sex, was to have their nipples played with (sounds gross, but I've actually read it in some books). However, contractions do not mean ness. that you are going to go into labor. You could have them and they could stop. I would just recommend relaxing, eating, and sleeping in the meantime (these are things that won't be readily available pretty soon:) Good luck with the baby!!!!! You'll do great!

Well if your water broke 39hrs ago and they have not induced you yet then what is going on??? Was it only your hind waters, not the fore waters that are surrounding the baby? If you can't have sex, then walking or gentle exercise might help. but remember, your baby releases a hormone when it is ready to be born that tells your brain to get your body moving as it wants out! If the baby isn't ready there isn't much you can do except wait or be induced.

I thought that if your water broke and labour didn't start within 24-36hrs they induce you? This is what they do in australia anyway.

Good luck and I hope that you baby arrives safely soon.

Hi, they can't leave you that long if you have no waters, that happened to me, though i lost my waters gradually, not all at once, but I got induced (had a drip in my arm) and they monitored my baby, to make sure everything was going okay. I don't think it is right that you are only 36weeks and your water has broke and you haven't had any contractions yet. Hmmm good luck but I would go to the doctors.
