Please don't tell me that I need to get a job because I’m fifteen and they won’t hire me anywhere. I am an aspiring filmmaker and I’ve already written the screenplay. I've managed to get all the equipments I need from my friends........except a professional HDV camcorder. Don't say I need to start out with "smaller" projects because I’ve been making short films since I was 10 and now I think I’m ready to take the real challenge. I've started asking my mom to buy me the camera to the point that she's getting annoyed by it. But guess what? When I asked her for the first time (two weeks ago) she said "NO WAY!" (2 days later) "Don't even think about it" (4 days later) "please shut up" (6 days later) "please go away" (9 days later) "Stop asking me!" (13 days later) "I’m busy right now" [my big break] (today) "since when did I promise you that I’ll buy you a camera?" Do you think I should keep asking her? Do you think she’ll finally give-up and order the camera for me?What else should i do?

Get a job! Do you seriously think your mother is going to pay 3,500 (about 2 months paychecks) to buy you a camcorder?

Well, I do believe your mom as a resource has run our for this funding. You will have to accept that. Now, it seems also seems that you don't want to get a job or is not capable of getting a job, so your only other option is do what any other indie filmmakers do for funding. Write for grants. have a personal fundriaser. take out a loan.

Also, I do believe you wouldn't be stupid enough to go big on your equipment just for the hell of it, so then ask around for whatever film festival you where thinking of submitting your work to, just how the other film makers get thier funding.
You are not the only one with funding issues when it comes to indie film making. Get connected to other filmmakers, you can only go so far asking on yahoo.

Sorry to tell you this but I got offered a job when I was twelve and I took it. It was at a pet/vet store and the pay is pretty good. There's always a job out there, so don't lie to make urself feel better. Stop asking her. Why don't you just be greatful for what you have instead of being so selfish! Gaww I hate kids like you! Have a nice day.

You need to come up with a plan to earn it from here. Assuming she has the means to buy it.

Make out a deal for you to work it off or to earn it doing things around the house.

Isn't there a cheaper camera that will work for now $3500 is awful expensive to start out with. If you can start with a cheaper one and show her what you can/intend to do with it maybe by then you can get a job and earn enough to buy your own.......

she may give in...but if i were you i would never even be asking for that much money- i would feel really selfish. just keep coming up with great ideas until you can get a job. maybe in a few years she will go 50% with you?
good luck with the filmmaking tho!

Don't listen to Karran S! Running away is definitely not the option! You can get a job at 15, and its great that you want to realise your dream. I believe you can! Save up whatever you can, don't spend excessively and BE PATIENT!! You'll achieve your dream if you stick to those rules. Good Luck!

Get busy writing letters to sponsors, like producers or large companies that may be able to use you as an outlet for advertising in the future...but remember they are probably not going to do it unless there's something in it for them.

Promise her you'll do the house cleaning for three months and she might say yes.

Seriously, you can get small jobs at your age. Stop badgering her. lt's a big amount you're asking for. Be considerate.

You can get a job at 15. You could work at McDonald's, sell ice cream at Baskin Robins, or at clothing store in the mall.
