It would be too little too late. Unfortunately we are now months down the line, a little more dignity and decorum at the beginning instead of trying to achieve celebrity status would have gone down a lot better. Using the situation as a money making exercise can never be apologised for.

It would be better if they apologised in a Portugese court of law before being taken away to the cells.

They will never admit neglect in case they are investigated by the social services and get the twins taken away from them. I often wonder whether his friends in high places (Government) told S. services to turn a blind eye.?
Now it seems Brown has been advised to distance himself from the McCanns for fear of ruining his reputation. HaHa.

Yes.

This has been my problem from the start - the fact no one was standing up and shouting that it WAS WRONG to leave 3 kids alone to go out and dine.

No charity done it, no coloumist, no day time programme and most of all not the McCanns. I would be ashamed and begging others not to do as I done. Instead they have done everything they can to try and justify it!

But then they have a lot of lawyers behind them advising them not to admit liabillity.

they should have at the beginning
i think now it is a bit to late.
if they had nothing at all to do with her dissapearence ,then my friend they are being punished enough don't you think.
if they did have something to do with it they should hold up their hands and let maddie rest.
whatever the law can do to them is nothing to whats waiting on the other side

The only person they have to apologise to is Madeleine, unfortunately they are not in a position to do that.

i dont think they should apologise to the public. Maybe their kids and rest of family, maybe, if they haven't already.

They don't have to apologise to the public for what they did but I think they should openly admit it. They will however have to explain to their children why they were not there to protect them when they are old enough to ask questions. Lets face it they can't keep it quiet.

I do not believe in kangaroo courts. If they are seen to be guilty of neglect then it should be left to the proper authorities. No mediaeval penances and sackcloth and ashes please.

They have publicly & formally stated that they feel guilt as parents. What more do you want? Do you want them to wail & tear their hair on telly as an admission of their guilt? Would that satiate you?

They have channelised their grief & regrets into a mission to right their terrible decision in leaving their babies unattended, and get her back. More constructive...

No, they don't need to apologise to anyone but their Madeleine...
