Yes, that has happen to me personally when I had my learners permit. When you drive for a lot of years, you're bound to experience all sorts of events such as this. The oddest had to be when I was behind a pickup truck that lost it's left axle.... and the tire, wheel and axle all came off together and bounced all over the 6 lane freeway.

A leak in your fuel line (rubber or metal pipe) was ignited by a spark from a loose wire. Spark plug, windshield / windscreen washer motor..anything.

Usually you can smell a fuel leak from INSIDE the car when you stop driving. Do you Remember this odor??

you probably put a combustible compound and initiate the reaction through the presence of O2 and flame/ spark.. I'm not sure what's the reaction mechanism involved.. but I'm sure You have to buy a new car.... ; )
