In early 1994, Sunil gavaskar became the highest Test wicket-taker in the world, breaking the record held by Sir Richard Hadlee. Kapil's record was broken by Courtney Walsh in 1999.
Kapil is the only player to have achieved the all-rounder's double of 5,000 Test runs and 400 Test wickets.

Kapil Dev indeed. But as that nice guy points out Kallis as an all rounder did much better with the bat and not to shabby with the ball.
In 131 test matches Dev scored 5248 runs at an average of 31.05.
In 107 test matches Kallis scored 8347 runs at an average of 54.91
Dev took 434 wickets at an average of 29,65.
Kallis took 213 wickets at an average of 31,72
Shaun Pollock, on the other hand, did better on average than Dev in both batting and bowling.
In 107 test matches Pollock scored 3781 runs at an average of 32.31.
He took 416 wickets at an average of 23. 19.
*
So, to answer the question if any player will equal Dev's record - yes. Pollock needs only 219 runs. He should do it in less than 4 more matches .

Kapil dev. It will be there for another generation. Kallis is the best allrounder of all time
Jacques Kallis is the best allrounder in the world. The burly Capetonian bats at number three or four in the South African line-up, although this World Cup is more likely to find him in the latter position. He is the rock amongst SA's batsmen: able to focus mercilessly for long periods of time and defy the opposition bowling. He is also capable of accelerating the scoring with a wide array of strokes. He has no discernable weakness against pace or spin bowling. He is a difficult man to dislodge.
Kallis is also one of the ten best seam bowlers in the world. He usually moves the ball away from the right-handed batsman and possesses a short ball surprising in its pace, as well as a slow ball surprising in its lack of pace. He is likely to feature first change, but is also very adept at firing in the yorkers at the death.
Finally, Kallis is also SA's premier slip fielder. Big hands and sharp reflexes serve him well in this crucial position.

once you call a partnership, it's going to be the runs scored between 2 guy or woman gamers. via fact the 408 runs have been scored between 4 guy or woman gamers for the shortcoming of one wicket, it won't have the capacity to be seen for the partnership for the 1st wicket.
