A Top Contributor is a member of the Answers community who has shown that they are knowledgeable in a particular category. Each Answers user can be a top contributor in up to three categories.
The top contributor badge is dynamic you earn it or lose it depending on your recent participation in a particular category. The more actively you contribute, the more likely you will earn a badge. Just like featured users or category leaders, it's another way to feature community members who might otherwise be overlooked.

First of all, you don't lose if you get a violation.
All you have to do to get a Top Contributor badge is to have a large amount of Best Answers in a specific category. If you really want one, focus on answering in only one subject, and eventually, you'll get your badge. I'm not sure of the percentage, though.

Both of my accounts have Top Contrib. this one and my suspended one
haha I think I just lost mine, maybe it does go away with violations, i should have it. I have 20% best answer, and P&S is all I'm on...

You need more than 10% of best answers in the same category.
Apparently there's a glitch because none of the P&S TC have ours at the moment.
That or no more P&S top contributors anymore...

i read somewhere else that you they can take away your badge when you get a certain number of violations. but, i checked my email and haven't received any violations. so, i'm thinking either yahoo increased the percentage of best answers or it's just an error. i would wait till tomorrow and see if it returns. don't worry about it though. your not alone.
