The TV announcers speculated he wanted to run more aggressive plays and was frustrated by the conservative play selection. Was that ever verified or was it idle chatter?

Gypsy,

Not a problem, just curious about how the game was strategized.

I don't think so. What actually happens is that Indy will call three plays in the huddle; and Peyton will read the defense and pick the best play for the situation. Ussually it is one run and two passes; depending on what Peyton sees. So Peyton has more control of the offense than any other team in the league. Also when he runs no huddle it is completely him calling the plays. Peyton is one of the best offensive minds in football so Coaches will trust him with making the proper calls. Its not really his decision on the plays to run, but he will read the defense and pick the play with the greatest chance of success against a given defense.

first of all i dont get into football like a football fan would. in fact i was against the colts for most of my 15 or so years living in indianapolis. they really were a bunch of loosers. but, now they are building a huge stadium that will completely reshape our downtown. plus i am getting taxed for this stadium that i will probley never get to set foot into. unless i go when it is something other then football. i do live here in indy so its was hard to miss anything about the superbowl. they plastered accross every news article and was front line news every day forever it seemed. my answer will be no he didnt. i think he might have said moments of the game was frustrating for him and his teammates. mostly everything i heard on the news and gossip at work was teamates and hes a team player. even though i got 2 payton manning jerseys hanging in my closet, i agree he was frustrated. but, it was just idle chatter.

The announcers, Simms mostly, said it was URLACHER who was frustrated and wanted them to blitz more. He was waving his arms at the coach in a very frustrated manner when Simms said this.

Manning is way too professional to bi*tch about something he can't change. They won the game so what's the problem?
