I'm 19-year-old man but I look like I'm 15 plus I have braces...I live in LA and I want to be an actor. I was thinking that maybe when casting directors need a 15-year-old or something, wouldn't it be a lot easier to deal with a legal adult who looks 15 rather than a real 15-year-old who is legally a minor?

I think not in high demand, but I think it might be something that would be a benefit.

You are right that it would be easier to do that. There are so many extras with dealing with a minor.

You should definitely look into getting an agent and getting feedback from them (meaning if you hear back from them and they want to sign you).

Abso-freakin-lutely.

I can't tell you how many calls I went on when I was in my 20's where the role was titled "18 to look younger"

A production wants to save money where they can and if they can use someone over 18 to work as a high schooler then they absolutely will as long as your performance is authentic. The advantage for them is that they don't have to hire a set teacher and they can work you longer hours, what's not to like?

Of course you still have all the other things actors need to worry about. Can you act? Do you have a great look? Does the agent already have someone that looks like you? Will you make them MONEY?

good luck!

I'd say you may have something there. Get into some classes pronto! When you send out your headshots make absolutely sure you include a cover letter that lets them know your real age. I know you can get a lot of extra work. It's horrible but you'd have a great chance of becoming union right away and if that's the case union work pays pretty well. You need to play every card you're dealt. Take advantage man.

Yes, it could work to your advantage to be able to play young. Most teenagers on tv are played by actors in their twenties. The production would not have to deal with any regulations involving schooling by hiring a legal adult. Plus you have a little more maturity, which is good.

Anne Hathaway was in her 20's when she was in the Princess Diaries portraying a 16 year old sophomore.

Why not give it a shot? Visit some acting agencies and see what they say. They do know the industry best and I believe would be able to advise you better than we can. There's lots of acting to be done in LA!

Good luck, hope this helped!
