How many remember the show WInkie Dink?

You had to buy this plastic thing you syuck on the TV screen and then you would draw things that Winkie Dink needed after the show you would clean the plastic for the next show.

My mom said they took it off the air because kids were just drawing on the TV screens!!!!

Winkie Dink and You!
A weird, if very fun interactive show. An example I remember from wayyyy back: Winkie Dink (a personable star) was trapped at the bottom of a well. to help him out, you would draw a ladder on the clear plastic film you had taped over the screen, which Winkie Dink could then use to climb out! (of course, the genial host and narrator of the show would give you a hint as to what you might draw, in case you were stumped). Then you would wipe the film clean and wait for the next clue to help your friendly little star!

I remember Winkie Dink with envy. According to my mother we couldn't afford the luxury of the additional Winky Dink Screen, so my Winkie Dink adventures had him walking on air alot. I was too chicken to write on the TV screen, I knew it was trouble since back then the TV was probably the most extravagant item our household had, after all that's where my father watched his Yankees and our family watched Ed Sullivan
