I was just worried since im a virgin and everything is still tight and in tact and everything.

My doctor is a woman.

The reason she wants to give me a pap smear is because I had a cyst on my ovary when I was 14 and had surgery to remove it. Ever since, I have not had a normal period cycle, I only get it like 3 or 4 times a year. She's worried this might cause problems when I want to have children so she wants to go look inside and see if there is a problem.

a pap is nothing to be worried about. all they do is stick a either metal or plastic vaginal device inside to open up your vagina and they just feel around to make sure everything is okay. they feel your ovaries to make sure their isnt anything wrong with them. its done and over with within a matter of minutes. YOU HAVE NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT! i had my first pap when i was 12.

A pap smear is not supposed to hurt at all the pain is when your doctor has to put that long plastic tube in. Be careful for that but a pap smear is not painful at all.The only thing that I worry about is that there are differnt ways. But dont worry you should be fine and you do great. Just dont worry about it so much.

Best of luck!

In the US, the guidelines for when to start having pap tests are "age 21 or three years after first vaginal sexual intercourse." According to the National Cancer Institute and the American Cancer Society, a 19 year old virgin does not need a pap test. Tell the doctor no. You don't meet the guidelines for needing one yet.

Also consider finding a new doctor who's more current on guidelines!

Pap smears don't hurt. The most you will be is scared and maybe cry, That's what I did when I got one at 14. I was still A virgin at the time. Try to think of the health benefits, they outweigh the emberassment by far. Just tell your O.B. that you are A virgin and ask him/her to please be gentle.

If its done properly, it sholuld hurt at all. Might be a little uncomfortable. Try and relax as much as possible. Good luck.
