Probably hundreds of stories like that. This coffee house I used to hang out at called "The Sanctuary," lived up to it's name in every way. Everybody was there -- children, homeless people, perverts, schizos, punks, posers, goths, gays, Christians (they were spying because they thought it was a cult), a native American with huge scars on his chest from when he was held up by meat hooks for 3 days, etc.
On one occasion, an ambulance was called to the apartments across the street, and they brought a guy out and they were performing CPR on him, used the defibrillators on him, and it didn't turn out so well in the end.
Some time later (a different night) two regulars came in and sat down, ordered coffee, etc. These are guys I hung out with and spoke with regularly. About an hour later, police swarmed the place and arrested the two for murder. Turns out they and one of their girlfriends killed a terminally ill old lady for her prescription pills. The girlfriend was the lady's caretaker. They were all sentenced to life, except the girl who got about 50-75 years.

At a coffee shop in Seattle on a warm summer night w/my boyfriend. This car went by and someone was on the hood hanging on for dear life. I looked at David he said, "Now there's something you don't see everyday." Then the car drove down the street to an intersection and started going in circles real fast trying to knock the guy off. David said, "I'm waiting for someone to yell CUT." By this time others noticed and someone called the police.

A bear got loose in the city, once...I think that it was being transported to the zoo...and it climbed up a tree off from this main road.
It had to be tranquilized and brought down...
