Hi,

The housekeeping chore I hate most is doing the laundry & the ironing.

I've always kept a clean home. I don't mind doing chores; they are a part of life. My husband & I have always shared household chores.

He always says that women shouldn't say that their husbands/boyfriends "help" them with the housework. That implies that the housework is the woman's job, & the guy is being really nice by "helping." When, in reality, the man & the woman are sharing a home, & both are equally responsible for taking care of it. I think I should keep him, don't you think!! ;-)

I understand why I hate doing laundry & ironing — I mean I really hate it!!!

It's a psychological matter. When I was 11 years old, I had to do the laundry for the entire family. I was the oldest child — I had 3 younger brothers. Plus there were my parents. That's laundry for 6 people. We lived in an apartment building, 5th floor walk-up. The laundermat was 4 blocks away. All the laundry was shoved into shopping bags, and they were soooo heavy; the handles cut into my hands.

So, an 11 year old girl, scrawny still, carrying 4 heavy bags full of clothes, down 5 flights and across 4 blocks. My arms felt as if they were pulling out of my shoulder sockets. Fight grown women for machines, get shoved around. Walk back the 4 blocks, climb up the 5 flights. Totally exhausted. Then what did I have to do ——

IRON all the clothing — not just mine — my 3 healthy brothers', my father's, my mother's. Soooo many shirts; and they had to be done perfectly or else be redone. I did this from 11 years old until I was 18 and finally moved out.

That was it! No more laundry. No more ironing. I sent my clothing out to be done. Then I got married at 21, and we shared. Guess who does the laundry & ironing? Not me. I do a couple of things he hates to do, so it works out just fine.

Sharing is a good thing :-)

I looove vacuuming, but I HATE washing the floors. I used to clean my entire home and then hire a maid JUST to do the floors for me!
