It wouldn't be my first choice for a hotel. The reason is that it's on the far end of the strip, so if you don't have a rental car you will have to take a taxi to central location or do a lot of walking.
It's definately better than the Circus Circus hotel and casino, that place was pretty dirty. Anyway, enjoy your trip to Vegas.

It's not so much that it is nice or not, although it would definately not be my first choice... you've got to remember the location, The Strtosphere hotel and casino is located at the northermost part of the strip, so however much money you may be saving by staying there, you might end up spending more on taxi's and transportation if you are wanting to get the whole Las Vegas experience walking the strip........ I would do an online google search on "las vegas hotel reviews" to get a better idea on the hotel itself....

It's fine. It really is. Frequent travellers to Vegas downgrade it because it is at the very north end of the Strip, and because other Vegas casinos (mostly much more expensive) are bigger, flashier, etc.
You'll have a fine time. Don't be put off by some of the other answers here. You could (as someone already mentioned) have done worse (Circus-Circus). While you're there, check out some of the other reasonably priced strip hotels (The Flamingo comes to mind), and make up your own mind as to whether you would go somewhere else next time, or stay at the Strat.

Las Vegas skyline is famous with the Statosphere tower, but that's about it. The casino is small and is located in between The Strip and Old Downtown Las Vegas. Mostly near old run down 60's hotels where working girls frequent and they brag about "Color TV" and "Free Local Calls" on their marquees. Just be really careful. Not to scare you, but it is a rough neighborhood as soon as you step outside, and there's nothing really close to walk to either. And watch out for the vagrants that wander into the casino as well. Oh...just stay somewhere else if you can. Their prices are low, right? Ever wonder why? Be safe and move closer to the strip.

Well it depends. If you like really loud music after the night club Polly esters starts up then you will have a ball . But I will tell ya the rooms are nice if you can get one in the premiere tower. The food at Roxy's is great and so is Lucky's but the main restaurant is over priced and the food is awful. Check out this site http://www.a2zlasvegas.com// and click on comments about strip hotels. Then click on stratosphere and see what is posted. I stayed there in April and I will not stay there again. But they do have cheap rates.

The Stratosphere is fine. Not the greatest location. You will not want to walk anywhere but inside it is great. If you don't have a car to get around in try the trolley to get around for a day. I believe it is only $5.00 for an all day pass and you can get off and on at the various stops on the strip. It will get you from one end to the other. I did this all the time before I moved here. A real value. Cheaper than a taxi and forget taking a local bus.

The hotel is OK, although it is pretty far from anything, so unless you have a rental car or plenty of money for cabs, you will be doing a lot of walking.
It's not the best place I've stayed at, but it's definately not the worst either.
Have fun in Vegas.

The Stratosphere is a fine hotel to stay at me and my fiance stayed there in April of this year. The rooms were decent it is at the north end of the strip, but I felt safe and we had a good time. You must go to the top of the straosphere.
