It's second time that I've bought a HD and it's capacity is not even close to stated one. Disk Management shows only 2/3 or 1/2 of disk capacity. I would expect maybe 10 or 20 GB's, but not half less. Is it an old BIOS problem? PC is 4 years old.
What's funniest - If I format the 250 GB HD in external disk case over USB port, everything is OK. But when formatting it plugged in PC (on IDE) capacity is downgraded.

@Andy T: I formated it via USB and plugged it to PC's IDE. It wasn't recognised as formated howsoever the jumper was set (slave or cable select).
@Snoopy & Oddjob: I have XP's with SP2.
@Oddjob: There's rather old BIOS update for motherboard on web - the same as on enclosed CD. I'm aware of troubles when "flashing" any kind of firmware. Touchy stuff, jep.
